The show that started it all,
It all began has an idea to start a podcast, nothing to serious, just curiosity I think. You see DK had done play by play sports , news and what not at a local university but that was about it. But ever since the internet was around DK liked listening to podcasts, so he thought lets try this. What started out has a small podcast, led to an internet radio show, and then it was almost like some kind of sereal sitcom series. Thousands ended up turning out every week, either live or by download to see just what there favorite online friends were up to......
After some research and the bare minimum for preparation, he stumbled upon Talkshoe. A cheap headset and no idea what he was doing, literally. So slowly week by by week he learned, how to play music, make an intro, play audio clips the usual. Oh and the nick name Double K. Well no one on talkshoe used their real name, they all used handles. Hence, the name stuck.
The first 3 shows were DK solo, but he quickly felt the need for a co host. He had listened to Violettes show and she came and listened to his. She came for a tryout and the rest was history. Violette stuck for almost the whole run of the show except for a 4 month absence.
The next character to appear was around episode 7 and he was the producer Scotty. Scotty was the long distance boyfriend of Violette (He was in Seatle and she was in Pittsburgh, they met on Second Life a virtual reality game) Scotty was the absent minded producer of the show for a little more than a year, when DK did his best Donald Trump and claimed...Yourrrrre Firrrrrred!
Upon Scotties departure from the show Violette and DK went solo but the need for a producer was still there. Long time listener and friend of the show DJ Chris was coming on the show and talking to us occasionally, so he was the next one to be signed, after a stint has the shows producer/co host, he joined DK to become co host and make a very formidable team and give DTR a brand new look and sound. He stuck around for Violette's return, until the shows final episode on May 18th 2011.
So from its days has a podcast on talkshoe the show always seemed more like a live radio show than a podcast. Not much was really prepared before hand and editing was rarely done after the recording. DTR was always searching for a better venue than talkshoe and its limited audio capabilities, and just when it seemed it would never happen, we were picked up by Z talk radio. Other than a brief stint on their own network the show spent the rest of its life on Z Talk, with a very successful run.
